Competitions

Picturehooks Winter Competition

The ‘Picturehooks’ competition in January was a useful focus after having to intermit again. The brief was to create a single image around the theme of ‘Winter Comforts -family’.

I decided to use competitions as a way to work quickly towards creating an image, and to try different materials along the way.

I somewhat prefer the black and white version.

Picturehooks Summer Competition

In August I entered another Picturehooks competition. This time the title was ‘Summer Surprises’.

I used Procreate for the first time as well as paper to do colour sketches and trial compositions.

Trying 3 colour separations, firstly layering watercolours and secondly digital screenprinting.

After trying 3 coloured pencils, I chose 3 colours of gouache for the final artwork.
